Funny how you hit those patches in life where souls seem to leave the planet in clusters. I’m in the thick of one of those patches with friends and clients.
Having lost important loved ones, I know there are no words that bring comfort. So rather than try to speak, I just listen. Listen to the sound of the hearts left behind breaking.
I came across this in my reading, and it’s the closest truth about loss that I’ve found.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
~From a headstone in Ireland

I’m so sorry you’re going through one of those patches, Karen. They’re tough!
I do like the quote though – it certainly sums it up.
What a beautiful sentiment…and an important one to remember.
I’m so sorry–and those words are well put.
Karen, this quote has brought comfort to me.
“Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”
- Eskimo legend
Wow, that is a better beautiful quote. I hope that you are on to a happier patch soon. While the good times wouldn’t be so good without the bad, it’s hard to remember that when we’re in the bad times.
Thanks guys. Not to worry; I’ve had enough personal loss over the years to be able to put it into a zen perspective. Patches like these are just part of the ebb and flow of life. Sobering but also important for reminding us to appreciate and enjoy what we have while we have it. Teetotaled, what a great quote!
Love the sentiment!
:-) Whenever I read that quote I think of my lost ones and I smile knowing they are somewhere they are loved.
Sorry to read of your losses. It is true that these things seem to come in groups, which makes it all the harder.
I like that quote…having only recently experienced that heartache and learning to cherish the memories.
Words like these do bring comfort.
I recently noticed that these things seem to happen in patches. My condolences to you.
